Define the welfare facilities needed
Set out what is already available and where additional facilities are required. A request might concern a rest and eating area, toilets and washing facilities, changing space or a combination of these uses.
Include the number of people using the facilities and whether shifts or changing workforce numbers affect the requirement. Mention accessibility needs and any separation of spaces required by your project brief.
Construction welfare scope
The Health and Safety Executive, the workplace safety regulator, identifies washing, toilets, rest and changing facilities within its construction welfare guidance (hse.gov.uk). A generic office cabin alone does not establish that a site’s welfare needs have been met.
Explain the welfare provision your project requires and identify any suitability decisions that remain outstanding. Keep office accommodation separate within the brief.
Services, upkeep and site arrangements
Describe known water, drainage and power arrangements. If these have not been established, flag them for discussion. Include delivery access and the intended cabin location without attempting to determine installation specifications yourself.
During the hire discussion, include responsibilities for cleaning, consumables and attention to faults or damaged fittings. These everyday arrangements matter alongside the cabin layout.
